Upper Body
I had a nice workout in the backyard this evening.
2 kettlebells, 1 resistance band, and 1 dumbbell were the tools needed for the job.
I wanted to show that you can do some pretty gnarly tricep isolation work with a resistance band and sturdy kettlebell. I might show off more variations like this in the future for people that find themselves in busy gyms with few options available due to crowds, or home gym trainees that may not have a ton of equipment, or even travelers who find themselves away from the gym with just some resistance bands, their bodyweight, and maybe 1-2 dumbbells or kettlebells.
Here's how the 30 minute upper body session went down.
Ex 1: single arm rows-2x12/12
Ex 2: single arm kettlebell military press-2x7/7
Ex 3: banded pushups-20,16 (on 2nd set I did 10 reps with my hands on pushup handles and the resistance band around me, then I ditched the pushup handles and did 6 more reps of just banded pushups with my hands on the floor. Nice mechanical drop set idea)
Ex 4: concentration curls-12/12, 8/8
Ex 5: banded single arm overhead extensions-19/19, 14/14
Again, total time was just 30 minutes.
I could have probably been done 5 minutes faster if I didn't get caught up with the camera and trying to figure out how to best set up the resistance bands around the pushup handles for my second set of pushups.
Easy but very challenging and stimulating. I got a great pump, felt good, then hopped in the sauna for 20 minutes.
